Online cad drawing retrieval system for a large electronic manufacturer
Summary
A complete CAD drawing retrieval system for a large electronic manufacturer on the Internet. The objective of the system is to provide access to the most recent version of the CAD drawing to all the engineers in the department.
Challenge
A software was needed which would facilitate the people working to have access to the most recent version of CAD.
Solution
The system includes check-in, checkout, basic workflow and archiving. The engineers can check out the latest drawing and make changes to it. When the drawing is submitted back into the system, the administrator is notified that a new drawing has been checked in. He checks the drawing visually, using Dr. DWG NetView and decides if the drawing meet the requirements. If it is, the drawing is checked into the system and otherwise the engineer is intimated of the reason.
Technology
The Project is a Graphics/Internet Development type. The technologies used are Visual InterDev and Oracle, Access in all major web browsers. The team size in the project was one and the duration of the project was 2 man-months.
